INDIVIDUAL PLAYERS

Many teams look to boost their player lists both in the lead up to the season and throughout it. If you don’t have a team but would like to play, please send an email to actsocialcricket@yahoo.com.

Include your name, a mobile phone number and brief details of any cricket experience. The Association will try to match you to a team looking for players.

You will negotiate any team costs and playing arrangements directly with the team organiser.

TEAM REGISTRATION

Team fees

Cricket registration for the 2023-24 season is $800 per team, to be paid in a single instalment.

Ordinary registration closes 1 September 2023, we sometimes accept late registrations – contact Angus 0404 142 144 or actsocialcricket@yahoo.com.

**See below for important information about individual player insurance arrangements.**

Registration forms

Existing teams complete the Existing Team form: Existing Team 2023-24.

New teams complete the New Team form: New Team 2023-24. Fill out the first page of the form and only parts 1-6 of the second page. The rest of the second page will be completed by the Association’s Committee after the form is received and payment is confirmed.

The Association requires details of the team organiser and a second team contact. All team organisers must understand the Competition Rules, particularly the Duties of Captains, also available under the ‘Fixtures’ menu.

Details of individual players are not needed when registering. There are no restrictions on use of fill-in players, except during finals matches.

Playing arrangements

The 2023-24 season is expected to include nine regular season matches (subject to weather) plus semi-finals and grand finals for the top ranked teams in each grade. Except for grand finals, matches are self-umpired. All matches are played on synthetic pitches.

What the team fee covers

The cricket registration fee covers the general costs of running the competition. These include ground hire, third party insurance, trophies, Association events, advertising and other administrative costs.

Each team must provide at each match a portable scoreboard, set of stumps and bails, a dozen boundary markers (such as small plastic cones) and an official match ball. The official match ball in 2023-24 is the Kookaburra Tuff-Pitch, widely available from sports stores or online. Teams may wish to provide a basic kit available for the use of all players. There are no dress requirements, though many teams choose to wear team shirts.

The cricket registration fee does not cover these team-specific costs.

What the team fee does not cover: individual player insurance

Individual player insurance must be purchased separately from the third party insurance the Association provides. The cost of individual player insurance is about $20 for the whole season and includes some protection against costs of injury and loss of income.

See the Player Insurance page for details about how to purchase this insurance in a few clicks online.
